Ultimate Patty Melt with Secret Sauce
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices of rye bread
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
- While onions cook, form ground beef into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper.
- In a separate skillet, cook patties over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Spread secret sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard) on one side of each slice of rye bread.
- On the non-sauce side of two slices, layer a patty, caramelized onions, and a slice of Swiss cheese.
- Top with remaining bread slices, sauce side down.
- Melt remaining butter in the skillet and grill the sandwiches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Slice in half and serve hot.
Notes
- Feel free to add other toppings like pickles or tomatoes.
- For a spicier version, add jalapeños to the mix.
