- 3–4 pounds beef brisket
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the brisket and pat dry with paper towels.
- Mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper in a bowl and rub it all over the brisket.
- Sear the brisket in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned on all sides, then transfer to the slow cooker.
- Pour beef broth and BBQ sauce over the brisket, cover, and cook on low for 8-10 hours until tender.
Notes
- For lower sodium, use low-sodium beef broth.
- Swap BBQ sauce for a homemade version to control sugar levels.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
