- 1 lb (450 g) beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 4 cups (about 300 g) broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup (50 g) brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons (16 g) cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
- Cooked rice, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Slice the beef flank steak against the grain into strips about 1/4 inch thick.
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Place the sliced beef into the slow cooker and pour the soy sauce mixture over it. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, add the broccoli florets to the slow cooker and stir gently.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Swap brown sugar with honey or maple syrup for a different sweetness.
- Use chicken or vegetable broth for a lighter flavor.
