Description

A delightful dish that combines tender beef with crisp broccoli in a savory sauce, perfect for busy weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups (about 300 g) broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons (16 g) cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • Cooked rice, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef flank steak against the grain into strips about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Place the sliced beef into the slow cooker and pour the soy sauce mixture over it. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
  4. About 30 minutes before serving, add the broccoli florets to the slow cooker and stir gently.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Swap brown sugar with honey or maple syrup for a different sweetness.
  • Use chicken or vegetable broth for a lighter flavor.
  • Add red pepper flakes or sriracha for a spicy kick.
