Description

Delicious mozzarella pretzel bites, perfect for snacking.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into small pieces and wrap each piece around a mozzarella cube.
  6. In a separate pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil and add baking soda.
  7. Drop the pretzel bites into the boiling water for 30 seconds. Remove and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Brush each bite with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Serve warm with marinara sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • You can use other types of cheese if desired.
