- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Roll the dough out into a large rectangle.
- Spread softened butter over the dough.
- Fold the dough into thirds, and then roll it out again.
- Repeat the folding and rolling process three times.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 25-30 minutes.
Notes
- For best results, use cold butter.
- Let the dough rest in the fridge if it becomes too soft.
- Store the bread in an airtight container.
