Description

A warm and comforting homemade chicken noodle soup recipe.


Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken (about 34 pounds)
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the chicken and chicken broth.
  2. Add carrots, celery, onion, garlic, thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour.
  4. Remove the chicken and let it cool. Shred the meat and discard the bones.
  5. Add egg noodles to the pot and cook according to package instructions.
  6. Return shredded chicken to the pot and heat through.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
