Description
A vegetarian twist on the classic General Tso’s chicken, using cauliflower as the main ingredient.

- 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the cauliflower by cutting it into florets.
- Dredge the cauliflower in cornstarch until well coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Fry the cauliflower in batches until golden brown and crispy.
- In a separate bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- Remove cauliflower from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- In a large skillet, heat the sauce mixture until it begins to simmer.
- Add the fried cauliflower to the skillet and toss to coat.
- Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
- Serve with rice or noodles for a complete meal.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control spice level.
- For extra crunch, double fry the cauliflower.
