Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (raisins, cranberries)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, sugar, and eggs to the yeast mixture.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise for 1 hour.
  7. Punch down the dough and fold in dried fruit and nuts.
  8. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes.
  11. Let cool before slicing.
