Description

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of day-old bread, cubed (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 1 cup of walnuts, chopped
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 cup of brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread by cubing it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients in a large bowl until well blended.
  3. Combine the cubed bread and chopped walnuts with the wet mixture.
  4. Prepare the crockpot by greasing it lightly.
  5. Transfer the mixture into the crockpot and spread it evenly.
  6. Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours.
  7. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
