- 2 pounds of potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup of grated Gruyere cheese
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of butter, for greasing the baking dish
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a bowl, mix heavy cream, milk, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the Parmesan and Gruyere cheese over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the cheese and potatoes.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cheese, and cream mixture.
- Top with breadcrumbs and additional cheese if desired.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
Notes
- Let the gratin sit for 10 minutes before serving.
- You can use a mandoline for even potato slices.
- Substitute cheeses based on preference.
