Description

Crispy Parmesan and Gruyere Potato Gratin is a creamy and cheesy dish made with layers of thinly sliced potatoes, rich cheeses, and a crispy topping.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup of grated Gruyere cheese
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, for greasing the baking dish
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. In a bowl, mix heavy cream, milk, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle half of the Parmesan and Gruyere cheese over the potatoes.
  6. Pour half of the cream mixture over the cheese and potatoes.
  7. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cheese, and cream mixture.
  8. Top with breadcrumbs and additional cheese if desired.
  9. Bake for 45-55 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.

Notes

  • Let the gratin sit for 10 minutes before serving.
  • You can use a mandoline for even potato slices.
  • Substitute cheeses based on preference.
