- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water and add sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Mix in flour and salt until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Divide the dough into equal pieces and roll each piece into a rope.
- Shape the ropes into twists.
- In a pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil.
- Boil each pretzel twist for 30 seconds, then remove and drain.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
