Description

Turkish Revani is a sweet semolina cake soaked in syrup, popular in Turkish cuisine.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix semolina, sugar, yogurt, vegetable oil, eggs, baking powder, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  5. While the cake bakes, prepare the syrup by boiling water and lemon juice with sugar until dissolved.
  6. Once the cake is done, cut it into squares and pour the syrup over it.
  7. Let it soak for at least 1 hour before serving.

  • Serve with whipped cream or nuts if desired.
