Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate icing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, melt butter and water, then stir in cocoa powder.
- In a bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the cocoa mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Mix in eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Fold in chopped pecans.
- Pour batter into a greased sheet pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once cooled, drizzle caramel sauce over the cake.
- Top with chocolate icing.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Can be made a day in advance.
- Use a different nut if desired.
