Description

A rich and decadent chocolate sheet cake topped with caramel, pecans, and chocolate icing.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate icing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and water, then stir in cocoa powder.
  3. In a bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the cocoa mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Mix in eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Fold in chopped pecans.
  7. Pour batter into a greased sheet pan.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Once cooled, drizzle caramel sauce over the cake.
  10. Top with chocolate icing.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • Can be made a day in advance.
