Ingredients

  • 4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (100 g) chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup (240 ml) caramel sauce, plus extra for drizzling

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add the melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the chopped pecans and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon-pecan mixture over the dough.
  7. Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log and cut it into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Pour half of the caramel sauce into the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the cut buns on top and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over them.
  9. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for about 2 to 3 hours, or until the buns are cooked through.
  10. Carefully remove the sticky buns from the slow cooker, let them cool for a few minutes, and drizzle with additional caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • To reheat, warm in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds.
