Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 4 slices of rye or sourdough bread
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to make the secret sauce.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place one slice, butter side down, in the skillet.
- Add the patty with melted cheese and caramelized onions on top of the bread.
- Spread the secret sauce on the other slice of bread and place it on top of the patty, butter side up.
- Cook until the bread is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
- Slice in half and serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute the beef with turkey or a plant-based burger for a different option.
- Feel free to add extra toppings like pickles or tomatoes.
- Adjust the sauce ingredients according to your taste.
