Description
A rich and decadent German Chocolate Sheet Cake topped with coconut and pecan frosting.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a sheet cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients.
- Mix well until smooth.
- Stir in boiling water until combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the frosting by combining butter, condensed milk, coconut, and pecans in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook until thickened, stirring frequently.
- Spread the frosting over the cake once it has cooled.
Notes
- Cool the cake completely before adding frosting.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- This cake can be made a day in advance.
