Description

A rich and decadent German Chocolate Sheet Cake topped with coconut and pecan frosting.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a sheet cake pan.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients.
  5. Mix well until smooth.
  6. Stir in boiling water until combined.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. While the cake is baking, prepare the frosting by combining butter, condensed milk, coconut, and pecans in a saucepan over medium heat.
  10. Cook until thickened, stirring frequently.
  11. Spread the frosting over the cake once it has cooled.

  • Cool the cake completely before adding frosting.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
