Description

Fried Apple Pies are a delicious dessert made with sweet, spiced apple filling encased in a crispy, golden crust.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 3 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for filling)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Stir in cold water until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  3. In another bowl, mix apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  4. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  5. Place a spoonful of apple filling on one half of each circle.
  6. Fold the dough over and seal the edges with a fork.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry pies until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  9. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
